Ranger is a steady single-target carry: check attack speed and crit first, then cover waves or bosses with Sorcerer or Hunter.

Damage role

Ranger is hero 201, using Bow and Arrow, with higher base crit than Knight or Priest. Among free roles, it is the fast-shooting single-target damage slot; local 1.00.17 builds also show several Ranger-centered parties.

Attack speed and crit

The core checks are attack speed, crit chance and crit damage. Rapid Fire, Scatter Shot and piercing skills all benefit from steady firing; rarer gear without speed and crit can still feel uneven.

Cover the wave-clear gap

Ranger is stronger into single targets, with area tools arriving later. If Sorcerer handles wave clear, Ranger can focus on single-target damage and movement; otherwise Arrow Rain or a teammate must cover groups.

FAQ

Can Ranger be the main carry?

Yes, especially before DLC roles. Its single-target output is steady, but it still wants Priest safety and Sorcerer or another teammate for waves.

Attack speed or crit first?

Check both. Attack speed keeps shots flowing, while crit raises the single-target ceiling; missing either one makes Ranger uneven.
